Lions Legacy

God's Provision

The foundation and overarching theme of this story is the goodness and faithfulness of God. Since 2006, Mountain Christian School has continually witnessed His provision in remarkable and meaningful ways. The name Lion’s Legacy was chosen with great intention—it reflects our vision of establishing deep roots on our own campus and building a lasting legacy that will serve and bless our community for generations to come.

Mountain Christian School officially opened its doors in August 2006, though the vision began several years earlier. A dedicated group of parents and teachers within the community felt called to create a Christ-centered educational environment in the beautiful White Mountains of northern Arizona. At the time, families had limited educational options—particularly those seeking an education grounded in a Biblical worldview. Rather than settle, these individuals stepped forward in faith, united by a shared desire to offer something more, and committed themselves to making that vision a reality.

Throughout the journey of prayerfully planning and building the school from the ground up, the founding members remained anchored in their core priorities: academic excellence, intentional Biblical worldview training, and a strong partnership with parents and families. At every step, God faithfully provided—guiding the process with the necessary funding, resources, and an ideal location for a small, thriving school community.

In August 2006, Mountain Christian School opened its doors for the very first time, welcoming 33 students and supported by a dedicated team of 8 staff members. There was a deep sense of anticipation and joy, as the community looked ahead with excitement and confidence in all that God would accomplish in and through the school.

Over the next decade, Mountain Christian School experienced steady and thoughtful growth, adding faculty and staff as needed to serve its expanding student body. As the school board and administration prayerfully shaped the culture of the school and clarified its vision, they were encouraged to see how MCS was meeting a genuine need within the community—serving and ministering to families from a wide range of churches, denominations, and backgrounds.

In its tenth year, MCS reached a significant milestone, enrolling 100 students for the first time. In the years that followed, the school continued to grow—even through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and a campus relocation. With full classrooms, growing waitlists, and increasing interest from the community, the school board began to seek thoughtful solutions and develop a strategic, intentional plan for future growth.

This season of intentional growth began in 2023 with the addition of a second kindergarten class. Since then, Mountain Christian School has continued to expand in a thoughtful and measured way, adding one class each year. As a result of this steady growth, the need for a larger campus has become increasingly clear. The current campus includes ten classrooms, along with a shared cafeteria and chapel space; however, to adequately serve a growing student body, MCS will require a campus designed for the future—featuring at least 18 classrooms, a gymnasium, dedicated cafeteria, playground, chapel space, and additional administrative offices.

In 2025, Mountain Christian School was generously gifted seven acres of land on Show Low Bluff—an unexpected blessing and a powerful reminder of God’s continued provision. With this gift, the school board has begun laying plans to prayerfully pursue the construction of a permanent campus on this property.

The year 2026 has marked an exciting and formative chapter in this journey. What began as a vision has quickly taken shape through the collaborative efforts of architects, engineers, and design professionals. From blueprints and site plans to soil testing and feasibility studies, the scope of this project has revealed both its complexity and its incredible potential. MCS has partnered with Grace Design Studio and Waltz Construction—two highly experienced firms with a long history of building schools throughout the Southwest. Together, they have helped transform vision into a clear, practical, and comprehensive plan for bringing this campus to life.

This new school will allow us to expand our mission, welcome more families, and create a Christ‑centered learning environment designed for today’s students and tomorrow’s leaders. Phase A will bring to life essential spaces such as a full competition gym, multipurpose gathering and dining space, chapel, junior high classrooms, and secure entry—spaces that will immediately support student learning, worship, and community.
But to bring this vision to completion, we need partners who believe in Christian education and the transformative work happening at MCS. We invite you to prayerfully consider making a financial contribution to help build a campus where faith and learning thrive side by side; a campus where every Lion’s story becomes a legacy.
Your gift—whether large or small—will directly impact students for generations. It will build classrooms where young minds ask big questions, playgrounds where friendships are formed, and spaces where students encounter God daily. Most importantly, your generosity will help open doors for future Lions to learn, grow, and experience the love of Christ in a place that feels like home.
Would you join us in laying the foundation for this next chapter? Together, we can build a school that reflects our faith, strengthens our community, and enriches the lives of families across White Mountain for years to come. Thank you for your prayers, your generosity, and your belief in the mission of Mountain Christian School. We are excited to see how God will use this new campus—and this community—to build a lasting legacy.
